Responsible storage means the warehouse operator takes full responsibility for the safety of the cargo entrusted to them. Under a custody agreement, the operator typically:
- Unloads and receives incoming cargo, checking integrity and documents and posting it
- Places property on shelves or in refrigerators/freezers — each spot a unique number
- Prepares property for shipment, checking packaging integrity and documentation
- Issues the property to you or delivers it to your address, per the agreement
