Optimal for an average family (1–3 rooms). You rent a complete service: transport, an experienced intercity driver and often loaders. The main advantage is speed and direct control — the car leaves on your schedule. Cost depends on distance, carrying capacity and urgency.

Groupage cargo

If you need to move inexpensively and terms are flexible, groupage is best. Your cargo is combined with others heading the same direction, which significantly reduces cost. The company handles everything from pickup to door delivery — a reliable way to ship boxes or furniture without rushing.

For a full-scale move of a house or large apartment, a container is the most practical solution. You get a separate sealed container that travels without overloading, guaranteeing maximum safety over long distances and handling any volume.

Optimize cargo volume & weight

Companies charge by volume or weight — whichever is greater. Use vacuum bags for clothes and bedding (3–4× less volume), disassemble all furniture into modules, and split books into several small boxes instead of one heavy one.

Choose the optimal time

The most expensive periods are summer and the last/first days of the month. Plan for mid-month and weekdays; off-season rates are noticeably lower. With flexible deadlines, groupage cargo is the most profitable way.

Compare offers & tariffs

Request quotes from several trusted carriers and study what's included — loading/unloading, packaging and downtime are often billed separately. Beware the cheapest rate: it may mean no insurance, unqualified movers or an old fleet, and repairs can cost far more than the savings.

How to pack fragile items

Wrap each fragile item separately in bubble wrap or packing paper. Place dishes vertically with cardboard between layers. Pack equipment in original containers or a box with plenty of soft filling. Label such boxes "Caution! Fragile!" and "Top".

Furniture & household appliances

Furniture must be disassembled into modules; put bolts and small parts in labeled bags taped to large elements. Prepare appliances (refrigerator, washing machine): defrost, fix internal parts, wrap the body in film. For safely lifting large objects, order rigging services.

Control the loading and unloading

Be present in person during loading and acceptance. Check things against the property inventory drawn up before work, and watch how movers handle large and fragile items. Record valuables on photo or video before loading and after unloading — useful in case of disputes.

Documents, payment and insurance

It's accompanied by a cargo inventory listing every item and its condition; on acceptance, a work acceptance certificate records any damage. Self-transportation: is it worth it?

Self-transportation in a personal or rented car suits a minimum of things (e.g. moving one person). You control every stage but take on all the risks — from breakdowns to improper securing of cargo. A rented minibus can pay off if you're confident driving large vehicles long distances, but consider hidden costs: fuel, toll roads, overnight stays. For personal belongings, this is the most stressful method.
